Borland International Inc has revealed that it has held informal merger talks with Lotus Development Corp, but that they have never led to serious talks; a Borland-Lotus merger would have to overcome the legal problems from Lotus having sued Borland for allegedly copying parts of its 1-2-3 spreadsheet.
