Borland International Inc has acquired dBase-compatible technology developed by Orinda, California-based WordTech Systems Inc. The Scotts Valley company has acquired all rights to WordTech’s Arago line of database management software, including code for all existing versions of its dBXL database and Quicksilver compiler, and stuff under development, such as multimedia extensions. WordTech’s development staff will join Borland’s database development team, effective immediately. Terms were not given. WordTech has over 200,000 registered users of Quicksilver and dBXL and will continue providing support until January 2. Borland does not plan to continue shipping the products, but will offer discounts on upgrades to Borland products as they arrive.
