Borland International Inc is aiming for 20% compound annual sales growth and sees in five years’ time half of its sales stemming from two recent start-up businesses, chief executive Phillipe Kahn said in Paris hours before Borland’s second quarter results were due to be released late on Friday: he said the firm was on its way to financial equilibrium; Borland is about to launch a number of new products, among which a programming tool code-named Delphi, which will be as revolutionary in the software industry as the Ford assembly line with the T-model for the automobile industry, making it easy to produce client-server applications, Kahn said, adding that the company also has high hopes of two start-up activities, Simplify, intended to make existing programs easier to use, and Borland Interactive, which employs 56, and aims to exploit the nascent information superhighways.
