Borland International Inc has added an SQL Connection to its ObjectVision environment to enable users to access IBM Corp’s DB2 mainframe database management system, via the Micro Decisionware gateway, and directly connect to SQL Server and Sybase SQL data transparently from an ObjectVision Windows application. Users, who do not have to know the SQL language, can connect SQL data with information from Paradox, dBase and Btrieve files within ObjectVision applications. SQL Connection is a Dynamic Link Library that self-registers to ObjectVision 2.0 applications and offers 20 database functions to connect and manipulate database records without the user needing to know or use SQL calls. ObjectVision SQL Connection is $800, including a licence to make an unlimited number of duplicate copies of the Runtime version; shipping this month.
