Boost knowledge & network – Top 10 IoT events for 2015

From Cisco's IoT World Forum to M2M World Congress, CBR rounds up 10 upcoming IoT conferences in Europe for 2015.

Conferences are a great way of getting up to speed on the latest developments, finding new ideas, and getting to know potential clients, customers and investors out there.

CBR looks at 10 upcoming 2015 conferences you should consider in the Internet of Things space.

IoTWF Regional Forum

Building on the success of previous IoT World Forum events in Barcelona and Chicago, Cisco is looking to showcase customer success stories and address the challenges that are stopping businesses from making faster and better informed decisions.

Key speakers include: Bernd Heinrichs, Head of IoT Sales at Cisco; Dinesh Sharma, SAP’s VP Marketing; Paul Glynn, CEO at Irish IoT firm Davra Networks; and Gadi Lenz, chief scientist at AGT International.

IoTWF Regional Forum: Realising the IoE Opportunity with IoT is taking place in Milan, Italy, between January 26th and 27th 2015.

The Internet of Things: policy and technology priorities

The event will focus on policy development and opportunities for businesses, communities and consumers in the UK. The event, hosted by the Westminster eForum, will address potential revenue streams and innovative applications set to come from the IoT – particularly the connected home and transport markets.

Key speakers include: Alin Stanescu, Government Affairs Maganer at Qualcomm; Arqiva’s director of M2M Wendy McMillan; David Harrison, Ofcom’s Director of Technology Strategy; Richard Curran, Head of Security, Intel EMEA; and Dr Mark Darbyshire, Chief Technology Adviser at SAP UK.

The event is taking place at the Royal Aeronautical Society in London, January 27th 2015.

Bosch ConnectedWorld 2015

The annual conference will see industry experts and leaders provide examples of how their solutions have improved the operations of their business, created new business models, and benefited the lives of their customers and employees. It will also feature use cases in the areas of mobility, energy, manufacturing, and connected home and smart cities.

Key note speakers will include: Volkmar Denner, chairman of the Board of Management of Robert Bosch GmbH; Richard Mark Soley, executive director of the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC); Dr. Stefan Bungart, Leader of GE Software Europe at GE Global Research; and Prof. Herbert Kohler, Head of E-Drive & Future Mobility, Daimler AG.

Bosch ConnectedWorld will take place in Berlin, Germany, between February 17th and 18th 2015.

BLN – Internet of Things 2015

The BLN event will allow you to meet and learn from people around the world who are making the IoT a commercial reality. The two-day event will feature smart panels, keynotes, exhibitions, demos and workshops looking to address questions such as ‘how can startups address big IoT markets? Who are the disruptors and who will be disrupted? and Is there smart money?’

Key speakers include Genevieve Bell, director of User Experience at Intel; Caroline Hargrove Technical Director, McLaren Applied Technologies; and Craig Hollingworth, founder of cloud company Concirrus.

BLN – Internet of Things 2015 will take place in Cambridge, England, between March 11th and 12th 2015.

RE.WORK Internet of Things Summit London

The summit will showcase the latest opportunities and technologies on the horizon from more than 200 of the world’s leading innovators. The two-day event will feature brainstorming session, workshops and keynote sessions on how IoT can impact future cities, healthcare and transport among other industries.

Key note speakers include Sarah Campbell, founder and creative director of SenseLab London; John Lewis’s IT director Paul Coby; Jonathan Wisler, general Manager EMEA of IBM company SoftLayer.

The event is taking place in London, at ETC Venues, between March 12th and 13th 2015.

CeBIT 2015: Into the Internet of Things

The event is set to present 50 of the most promising digital startups worldwide over the course of five days. The event will feature panel shows, workshops and designers such as Munich-based Clemens Weisshaar and Stockholm-based Reed Kram.

Further details are set to be announced and the event is taking place in Hanover, Germany, between March 16th and 20th 2015.

Net Futures 2015

Organised and supported by the European Commission, the event will be structured around three stages in the life-cycle of an idea: research and innovation, technological validation, and final delivery to market. The conference will gather more than 700 attendees in research, innovation, business development and policy making, with the aim of maximising the competitiveness of the European technology industry.

Those speaking include Mário Campolargo, director of the Net Futures Department, DG CONNECT, European Commission; and Policy Officer – Seconded National Expert at the EC.

The conference will take place in Brussels, between 25th and 26th March 2015.

SIdO – The Connected Business

The event will see startups, manufacturers, tech companies, digital players, labs, investors, designers, contractors and media gather to explore the IoT and make it the new economy.

The event, held in partnership with Minalogic, Imaginove, Cap Tronic among others, will include 150 exhibitors, 40 conferences and workshops and 50 journalists.

The event will take place at the Cité Internationale in Lyon, France, between April 7th and 8th 2015.

Monetising the IoT 2015

The two-day event will see industry experts reveal how companies can save more money, increase revenue and efficiency, and improve relationships with customers through IoT technologies.

Those speaking include London City Airport’s CCO Matthew Hall; Jonathan Steel, CEO of lobby group Change London; Neil Pennington, RWE npower’s director of Smart Innovation; Concirrus’s CEO and founder Andrew Yeoman ; Daniel Kostelac, a senior business developer at Volvo; Robin Duke-Woolley, CEO of Beecham Research; and Scott Lyons, European Market Development, Connected Services, Ford.

The event will also focus on how IoT can be used in different verticals and industries, the benefits of data generated by IoT and practical examples of successful implementations.

Monetising the Internet of Things takes place in Frankfurt, Germany, bewteen April 15th and 16th 2015.

M2M World Congress 2015

The event is focusing on applications and hardware for automotive, healthcare, asset and fleet management, manufacturing, security, retail point of sales, smart grid, smart metering, smart home and consumer electronics.

Those speaking include Bernd Heinrichs, Managing Director, CISCO IoT(EMEAR); Mike Bell, Director, Connected Car at Jaguar; Magnus Lundgren, Director – Head of Connected Vehicle Cloud at Ericsson; and Matt Hatton, CEO of Machina Research.

The event is taking place at the Grand Connaught Rooms in London, UK between April 28th and 29th 2015.
