What little progress Claris Corp achieved in the third quarter of the year was made by a huge increase in sales of versions of its software for Windows – which is gobbling up the market share of its parent Apple Computer Inc. Even so, revenue of $53.9m for the three months to June 27 was down 3% on the same quarter last year and 23% below the record revenue recorded the previous quarter. Even without major profit launches last quarter, the growth of our Windows business allowed us to report good revenue and profit results, said Claris president Dominique Goupil. Software for Windows PCs now accounts for 36% of Claris-brand revenue and revenue from Windows sales more than doubled over the same time last year. Claris said profits for the three months are up but does not break down the figures.
