Customers want to replace thin film filters with low crosstalk AWGs, but also want a plug and play solution, said Etienne Friedrich, Product Line Manager for DWDM products.
Bookham Technology’s ASOC-based AWG modules are 40-channel multiplexers and demultiplexers with integrated crosstalk in excess of 22dB. The thermally stable electronics are internal to the product and are driven simply by a 5V supply.
The new AWG product with internal electronics adds to a broad offering of integrated DWDM solutions, which includes the industry’s first single chip 40-channel Mux-VOA that Bookham Technology announced and first shipped in September 2000.
