The BBN Laboratories Ltd contract research and development arm of Bolt, Beranek & Newman Inc of Cambridge, Massachusetts, has picked the Riccarton Research Park at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh as the base for its European development operation. The company will spend UKP500,000 on equipment for the lab in its first year, and will be taking on up to 60 engineers and scientists to work on advanced computing, information science and physical sciences. Sister company BBN Communications Corp has already chosen nearby Livingston as the base for European manufacturing.
