BMC Software Corp says each of the five new product units it has created to house its existing software and the Boole & Babbage and New Dimension Software lines will over the next few months, lay out their own strategies for the future. BMC says the units have already completed or embarked upon integration of current product lines. The application service management and OS/390 units are the biggest revenue earners, housing most of the BMC and B&B products. Indeed the applications unit is being run by an ex-B&B SVP. OS/390 and the data management groups are run by BMC VPs, while the storage group, which is drawing up a strategy to address the SAN market for July, is run by former director of Compaq Computer Corp’s storage business Vick Mahadaven. The IT process automation is being run by New Dimensions’ chief executive.
