This is the first product to be launched by the company since it acquired ProactiveNet earlier this year.

The software adds an analytics layer to business service management that detects and prioritizes problems before it impacts business-critical applications. According to BMC, the product learns the normal performance behavior of all monitored attribute and adapts to the subsequent changes. The software pulls data from hardware and applications across a company’s IT environment and automatically provides a list of probable causes when an issue arises. The company also claims that the software reduces the total number of threshold events by a factor of ten.

IT organizations spend an exorbitant amount of time and resources trying to understand and prioritize the sheer number of events that clog IT operations consoles on daily, even hourly basis, said Roy Ritthaler, director of product management, distributed systems management at BMC.

The ProactiveNet Analytics integrates with existing BMC products and multiple third-party event solutions.

In October 2007, BMC’s competitor Netuitive launched the Service Analyzer 2.0, a self-learning performance management software similar to the ProactiveNet Analytics.
