Bluestone Software Inc, the Mount Laurel, New Jersey-based enterprise interaction management software company, is preening itself on a third quarter of 1999 in which total revenue reached $4.0m, compared with $2.4m for the third quarter 1998. Admittedly, net loss for the period ended September 30 1999 was $3.7m, up from a loss of $3.1m this time last year, but down from the $4.9m the company lost in the second quarter of 1999. Since the second quarter 1998, Bluestone has been scaling back licenses and services related to third party software to concentrate its efforts on its own products. With this in mind, CEO Kevin Kilroy reported that Bluestone’s third quarter exceeded the expectations of its management team.

During the quarter, the company’s initial public offering was completed, its Code Blue Developer Program saw increased customer participation, and demand rose for its flagship products, the Sapphire/Web application server framework and Bluestone XML Suite. Meanwhile, executives report strong interest in the freshly launched Total-E-Business product suite. Meredith Corp, Saga Software Inc, Food.com, HealthAxis.com and Strategic Weather Services have named Bluestone a strategic solutions provider. Without any direct competition – Kilroy says sales reps rarely compete for accounts even with Allaire Corp – Bluestone’s prospects remain rosy.
