Blue Mountain Arts, the privately-held greetings card concern that has made it into most top ten lists of web sites during the fourth quarter, has won another round in its lawsuit against Microsoft. It filed a suit in December when it became clear that Microsoft’s WebTV had been blocking electronic greetings cards using the Blue Mountain format. Earlier a similar problem had been recognized with Microsoft’s Outlook Express, but Microsoft had pledged to fix the problem but declined to say when. On Thursday of last week a Santa Clara County superior court issued a preliminary injunction against Microsoft, preventing it from setting filters in Outlook Express that treated them as junk mail and placed them in a separate folder. The injunction extends one won by Blue Mountain ion late December. Microsoft has 30 days to comply with the order.
