The HealthTrio connect is an integrated e-health platform designed to enable two-way communication between healthcare plans, providers, members, employers and brokers.

Blue Cross hopes the platform’s web functionality will improve service to its constituents, enhance efficiencies of transactions and reduce administrative costs.

The first phase of the implementation, scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2005, is expected to include provider and member portals which will allow users to exchange information on eligibility and claims adjudication. Members will also be able to perform self-service functions such as changing PCPs or reviewing benefit information, and become more proactive in managing and improving their own health.

The second phase will expand the functionality to providers and members, and give brokers self-service capabilities in 2006.
