Blu shareholder Edizione has been experiencing difficulties itself and was unable to find a suitable buyer for its stake in the operator, which had been Italy’s fourth-largest.

The company had hoped to find a buyer by July 31 at the latest, but having failed to find one by mid-July, Edizione made a request to the EC for the company to be allowed to sell off in separate parts. Now the company will be liquidated but certain commitments must be maintained.

The sell-off must not benefit the market leader, TIM. Additional to this, among other things, Edizione must also make sure that the development of UMTS in Italy is not hampered by this liquidation.
