Blogging fires up literary talent

The explosively popular internet activity known as 'blogging' has given rise to the world's first ever literary prize for books based on blogs.

By CBR Staff Writer

Blogs are websites where random journal entries can be posted. Blogging is the activity engaged in when one of these entries is posted, and a blogger is the author of an entry.

The ‘Blooker’ prize is a new award that recognizes the talent of authors whose entries originated as blogs, and proved so popular that they were adapted to the printed form. Amongst the British entries said to be short-listed for the prize is the diary of a prostitute and a guide to the UK’s best ‘Greasy Spoon’ cafes.

Lulu, a digital do-it-yourself publishing house is the prize’s sponsor.
