BLOCK ADMITS TO TALKS OVER FUTURE OF COMPUSERVE AFFILIATE

H&R Block Inc, which still owns about 80% of CompuServe Corp, has finally confirmed that it is in discussions with a third party regarding a possible business combination involving CompuServe. America Online Inc is still not saying anything (CI No 3,132), but is the only name in the frame, and according to PC Week, has had two share exchange offers for CompuServe rebuffed already. Attractions to the Dulles, Virginia market leader are that as well as 2.1 million subscribers to add to its 8 million, it would expand its corporate and international presence and grow its network.
