Blick Plc accompanied its steady, if unspectacular, results (see page five) with a bid for loss-making Unlisted Securities Market listed radio pager manufacturer, Multitone Electronics Plc: Blick’s own pager manufacturing division increased profits by 50% despite the costs of developing a new product for launch later this year, and Blick is confident that it could turn Multitone around; however, despite the seemingly gener-ous offer of one Blick share for every two of Multitone held, which values Multitone at an 88% premium to its market price, Blick is unlikely to win as the Multitone directors who hold more than half the company’s equity between them have already firmly rejected the Blick takeovertures.
