Having optimized its Community Platform 4.0 for Intel’s Pentium III processor, blaxxun has announced that it now supports Non- Uniform Rational B-Splines (NURBS). Objects developed using NURBS can now be displayed on the internet. The company says NURBS reduces the bandwidth requirements for complex 3D data by as much as 80%. Jointly developed by blaxxun and Intel to improve 3D graphics display, NURBS describes 3D models in mathematical terms in order to make them small enough to transport – a sort of 3D equivalent of Adobe’s vector graphics technology. Content developers include Germany’s Lunatic and France’s Crea.
