Blade Network Technologies, a provider of data centre networking, and Voltaire, a provider of scale-out data centre fabrics, have entered into a partnership to offer 10 Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) data centre switch fabrics.
Voltaire’s Vantage 8500 Layer 2 core switches and Blade’s RackSwitch G8124 switch enables customers relying on ultra low-latency server and CEE-capable storage connectivity to build flat data centre fabrics of more than 3,400 10GbE ports with non-blocking, lossless switch capacity of 11.52 terabits per second, the companies said.
Voltaire-Blade offering provides latency of only 2.4 microseconds and is optimised with Voltaire Messaging Accelerator (VMA) software for ethernet. The product also also leverages additional software offerings from both Voltaire and Blade to enable management of virtualised data centres and cloud environments.
According to Voltaire, its new Unified Fabric Manager (UFM) 3.0 software orchestrates virtual machine connectivity and centrally manages multi-vendor ethernet fabric resources in the unified environment consisting of Vantage 8500 and RackSwitch G8124. It also features VMready for virtualisation-aware networking that automatically moves network policies as virtual machines move, and supports FCoE/CEE standards.
