BlackBerry Work Space now available for iOS and Android

It will let employees check out their BES 10 email and contacts from their iPhones or Android devices.

By CBR Staff Writer

BlackBerry has launched Secure Work Space, an app through which businesses and government agencies manage employees’ Android and iOS-based devices through BlackBerry’s Enterprise Service 10.

This will have a secure container on devices owned by employees, where a web browser, intended for Intranet access, and clients for email, calendar and task management, resides.

BlackBerry Enterprise Mobile Computing EVP, David Smith, said: "In today’s ‘bring your own device world’, Secure Work Space is a differentiated solution that brings key elements of the BlackBerry security platform and mobile device management to iOS and Android devices."

The Secure Work Space application will also eliminate the need to configure and manage VPN infrastructures to provide mobile device access to data and apps that reside behind corporate firewalls.

Work Space will let employees check out their BES 10 email, calendar and contacts from their iPhones or Android devices.

Also available on it is web browsing, document viewing and editing, through Documents to Go.

The Work Space will let company administrators to secure and manage the data on all employees’ devices.
