BlackBerry has resumed its services for users in the Canada and Asia-Pacific region after fixing a network outage.

The outage also affected customers from Rogers Communications but had no impact on those using BlackBerry’s new BB10 devices.

Canadian carrier Telus was also told BlackBerry it had been hit with the outage, which BlackBerry said it had identified and was working on a fix.

BlackBerry spokesperson Lisette Kwong said in a statement: "BlackBerry can confirm that all service issues impacting some users in Canada and the Asia Pacific region have been resolved."

The latest outage comes at a hard time for the Canadian smartphone maker, which is trying to focus on offering safe messaging services for business and government customers.

Last month, BlackBerry revealed plans to focus on ‘physical’ keyboard in efforts to target corporate and government customers that were responsible for its early success.

The Canadian smartphone maker, which agreed to be bought by Fairfax Financial led consortium for $4.7bn (£2.8bn), is also looking to focus on its BlackBerry Enterprise Service, BlackBerry Messenger, QNX embedded software and connected cars.
