Birmingham Cable Communications Ltd, part owned by TeleWest Communications Ltd, yesterday integrated a Northern Telecom Ltd Digital Multiplex System DMS100 switch into its network: the process involved the cutover of 40,000 customer telephone lines from the old local exchange system to its own DMS100 – the largest that Northern Telecom has installed in Europe – which will enable Birmingham Cable to provide enhanced telephony service.
