Bipolar Integrated Technology Inc says it is now free to ship its implementation of MIPS Computer Systems Inc’s ECL R6000 RISC part to customers other than MIPS itself: industry sources see the move as a sign that the Beaverton, Oregon-based chipmaker has now overcome the ECL manufacturing problems that plagued it for over a year.
