SBS says public sector contract provider BIP Solutions will be responsible for designing and building the portal as well as generating and maintaining buyer/ supplier interest in it. The contract will run for five years.
All UK public sector organizations will be able to publicize their contracts on the portal and, for the first time, all businesses will have access to these contracts in a single place. Once registered, businesses will receive alerts relating to new contract opportunities.

It presents an exciting new opportunity for small businesses to identify and tender for lower-value public sector contracts, which in turn will stimulate the private sector’s interest and involvement in this important arena.
SBS said the new portal is expected to be launched in spring 2006 and will be available to businesses through the Business Link website.
