Six European companies and academic institutions have come together to launch the Binary Compatibility Standard for the new T9000 Transputer. The participants are Associated Computer Experts BV in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, which produces compilers for complex and RISC processors; massively parallel system producer Parsytec GmbH of Aachen, Germany; PACT in Delft, the Netherlands, known for its Parallel C compiler system; the German research institute GMD, with bases in Berlin and Karlsruhe and responsible for developing the Modula-P language and Peace operating system; and the University of Technology in Munchen which develops Tools for Parallel Systems. The six have worked to define a core binary interface, in line with X/Open XPG3 and Posix standards. They will continue to work on enhancements and, eventually, final publication of the Binary Compatability Standard. Their aim is to ensure that T9000 Transputer applications developed on different systems will run on any compliant system.
