During his third "Ask Me Anything" session on Reddit, Microsoft founder Bill Gates has revealed details about a Personal Agent invention he has been working on.

When a user asked about what personal computing might look like in 2045, Gates said: "One project I am working on with Microsoft is the Personal Agent which will remember everything and help you go back and find things and help you pick what things to pay attention to."

"The idea that you have to find applications and pick them and they each are trying to tell you what is new is just not the efficient model – the agent will help solve this. It will work across all your devices."

Microsoft presently has a virtual assistant, Cortana which is designed to help users keep up to date with appointments, but the new product is likely to do much more.

However, it is not known if the new assistant will make use of Cortana.

Gates did not give details about the project, but according to reports it could be a new application to complement the customised Skype for Business or OneNote. It could also connect applications that are bunched in the system.

After stepping down from chairmanship, Gates took over the role of "Technology Advisor" for Microsoft and has been reportedly working on several projects.
