The larger second line US long-distance carriers – Telecom*USA Inc is the biggest after the Big Three – have banded together to form the The International Carrier Group in Washington, and are to hand off their international traffic to MCI Communicatiosn Corp under a three-year $150m agreement: the consortium also includes Cable & Wireless Communications Inc, Allnet Communications Inc and Metromedia Long Distance/ITT; Alan Peyser, consortium chairman and president of Cable & Wireless Plc’s US arm, said the new arrangement will enable member companies to provide high quality service while benefitting from reduced rates that result from consolidating their high volume business.
