These three firms, plus Sprint Solutions and Level 3 Communications, all landed a spot on the enterprise phase of th eprogram. The enterprise contracts cover services delivered to specific geographic regions served by federal agencies; the universal contracts include services delivered straight to the agencies themselves, according to an AT&T release. Agencies will choose which type of contract to use for specific projects.

The Networx deal includes a full rage of IP, optical, and wireless telecom services that will support most of the government’s network upgrades over the next decade. The enterprise contracts, designed for more localized services, include nine mandatory services that the firms can bid on. The universal contracts, which will probably be for nationwide or global projects, include a broader range of 39 mandatory services.

Some of recipients of the contracts have announced their own teams or partner vendors. AT&T, for example, will be working with Northrop Grumman, EDS, GTSI, Bechtel, and Global Crossing. Level 3 will have IBM, Unisys, and Multimax on its team.
