Sensormatic Electronics Corp, Deerfield Beach, Florida, and Texas Instruments Inc will jointly develop security smart tags for companies to identify and track their personnel, vehicles and assets. The tags use a low FM frequency transmission technique that enables hands-free identification and tracking of assets for high security installations. The technology is used with Sensormatic’s Sensor-ID products, which have been selected for use by the Olympic Games in Atlanta. The alliance provides Sensormatic exclusive rights to the technology in the security asset tracking market, which includes any business wanting to track equipment such as computers and facsimile machines in day-to-day operations.
