BID SPECULATION CAUSES CASE GROUP SHARES TO RISE

By CBR Staff Writer

A strong market in Case Group Plc shares, up 20 pence to 137p yesterday, was occasioned by speculation that someone is close to making a bid – at around UKP2 per share; suspects include Philips, Racal Electronics and Thorn EMI, though the last two deny interest, and if you look across the Atlantic you can perm any one from about 30 candidates; Case itself says it has heard nothing at all.
