BI ACQUIRES PATENT FOR “CORRECTIONS” TRACKING TECHNOLOGIES

By CBR Staff Writer

BI Inc, Boulder, Colorado has acquired a patent from CAE Inc, Toronto that includes tracking technologies such as geolocation and telecommunications capabilities, and says it wants it specifically for the corrections industry. (Corrections is the euphemism for what most people call the business of running prisons, jails or penitentiaries.) Understandably, the corrections environment presents a challenging application for full time tracking of individuals; we will offer this technology to our customers only after it’s been thoroughly tested and proven reliable for application in a community corrections setting, said Mckinley Edwards, chief operating officer.
