BHF’s Furniture and Electrical Stores sell second-hand dining suites, sofas, white goods and electrical products. The sale proceeds are used to fund research into the prevention of heart diseases.

Codegate offers mobile enterprise applications to the transport and logistics, distribution, warehousing, retail and field service sectors. As well as mobilewarehouse, Codegate’s products include mobilecourier – a proof-of-delivery system, mobilelogistics – a track and trace system for transport and logistics companies and mobileworker – a job scheduling system.

Mobilewarehouse, running on Unitech PA962 rugged mobile computers, unifies BHF’s systems by integrating data captured in warehouses and logistics centres into business management systems.

BHF employees will be able to record goods via the PA962’s touch screen. A barcode reference is generated for each item and a label containing the barcode and price can be printed instantly with Zebra QL220 mobile printers.

Steve Biddle, head of finance, IT & project development at British Heart Foundation, said: “Once each item has been recorded, Codegate’s solution enables us to have complete visibility of our stock. It allows us to analyse in detail what is being sold and also eases the management of store transfers, price adjustments, stock write offs and customer returns.”

Codegate has customised its software for BHF to record additional information about an individual product. This functionality enables the stores to record portable appliance testing certificate numbers, which are required by law for the resale of second hand electrical items.
