Looks like the offer for sale of Enfield, Middlesex telephone distributor Betacom Plc has not been the success hoped for by owners Cannon Street Investments Plc (CI No 1,064); yesterday was the closing date for share applications, and asked to comment on how it had gone, the company would say only that unlike British Steel it did not have the benefit of knowing in advance about last week’s truly dreadful balance of trade figures.
