Best Data Products Inc of Chatsworth, California is rolling out the ACE Advanced Communication Enhancement system, an internal board for iAPX-86-based personal computers. It merges facsimile, modem, sound, telephone answering capabilities and CD-ROM interface onto a single board made possible by the new Mwave signal processing technology from IBM Corp (CI No 2,274). One board can replace four separate boards, saving motherboard space. Best Data claims the board defies obsolescence because it is fully software-upgradeable, making it inexpensive to add new applications as they become available. The suggested list price for it is $260.
