What are the main things you look for in an Android browser?

By Tom Ball

This list is geared towards helping you decide which is the best browser for Android that is on offer right now. We will be taking into account a variety of factors including usability, design, and features. While some of the names on this list have well-established backgrounds, others are newer options that are shaking things up.

The options on our list include many features that are conducive to greater convenience and overall usability. Security is even taken into account on this list, with cloud protection being used to implement encryption. Privacy is another element that is supported by some of the browsers on this list.

Opera

This browser is built on Chromium open source, the same engine that is behind the popular Google Chrome. Google Chrome has been well regarded for having a clean and attractive interface, and this is what is on offer when using Opera.

The uncluttered UI also goes hand in hand with the more straightforward controls for navigation. While the layout is sleek, the browser is still capable of handling multiple tabs and taking on the extra strain without showing the effects.

AndroidA smart news reader feature is also on hand with just a swipe left, keeping you constantly connected to current events. Opera for Android also includes its own data saving feature that originated in the Opera mini browser, another satisfying component within Opera is the built in ad blocker.

Opera has another handy feature that is appealing to someone who likes to keep their interests all in one place, as the is the ability to add websites directly to the Opera home screen. Some sites including social media sites can send you notifications like an app does.

Google Chrome

We could not mention Google Chrome without also featuring it on the list, and although it doesn’t include some of the frills that another top browser for Android might, it is perhaps the most competitive option available.

Google Chrome will sync with the browser on your PC, which is extremely beneficial if you are a Chrome user across your devices. This is highly efficient as it maintains continuity of your search experience, and narrows the separation between your PC and other devices.

AndroidWith privacy becoming a topic surrounded by a great deal of concern in terms of cyber security, Google Chrome helps by adding a layer of concealment. This comes in the form of a do not track option that is built in. This feature may be useful for business purposes.

There is also an Incognito function that has been widely reviewed as useful and effective. Ultimately Google Chrome is a very strong option if you are using other Google services, as it helps to keep your activity in sync.

Mozilla Firefox

Here is another big name to join Google Chrome in the list; however Mozilla has been active in this space for a much longer time that Googlr Chrome. The history and well-known name Mozilla has accrued is enough in itself to hold many users loyal to its use.

A feature keeping Firefox firmly in the game in terms of being a top browser for Android are Firefox Add-ons, these are regarded as working just as well as on the original desktop version. The extensions available are useful and offer smooth options for keeping various areas in check.

AndroidIf you are a prominent night time device user, Firefox also has a helpful feature that will alter the light to make web pages more reader friendly.

The themes feature that is familiar to desktop users also provided a solid experience on an Android device, comparable to the original version available on desktop. There are a wide range of themes that offer personalisation and customisation to the user.

Like with Google Chrome, Firefox also provides the ability to sync your devices together, improving the browsing experience. Another element that is conducive to efficiency and convenience is the ability to share quickly across social media platforms.

UC browser

UC browser has been regarded by some being the best Android browser available this year, and this is in no small way due to the vast array of feature on offer.

Now starting with the overall appearance, there is some stiff competition from the likes of Google Chrome and Opera, but UC also has a very nice interface in the same slick way. This will be very appealing as it taps into the modern, sharp style that is currently so desirable.

This browser for Android is not just formidable on the surface; it also has some impressive internal elements that will please the discerning user of Android devices that is partial to browsing once in a while.

The caching system that comes with UC browser is very good, and it will not only store sites, but also the pages you have visited, making it much easier to track your way back to something interest you previously found and want to see again.

Data is compressed by the browser, while navigation is sped up; this ultimately works towards saving cellular traffic data. This browser also allows for very fast downloads, which will be a draw for many who are fans of music and other media.

Also noteworthy is the way in which this browser presents the content you access to you, as it has features that wrap the text efficiently, creating a perfect fit. There is also an “Auto page loader” that keeps you in the rhythm of your browsing session.

This browser for Android also makes it easy to access music and video, and offers a cricket card feature than provides live viewing, scores and other information.

Puffin Browser

This browser has been included on our list because of its extremely high speed, which makes it stand out from the majority of the competition, and a key element people look for in a web browser.

Also included with Puffin is Adobe-Flash-Over-Cloud, a useful component for keeping your browsing experience seamless, and making more media easily acAndroidcessible.

Security is a major issue worldwide at present, and do not be fooled that you are not a target, in our connected world we are all vulnerable, and in need of every layer of defence.

Puffin has strong cyber security due to its cloud protection; this means the traffic between the app and the server is encrypted. The extra precaution this provides means there are no weak moments when sensitive information could be breached.

This added layer of security makes Puffin suitable for use on public WiFi, while many other browsers could be vulnerable to hacking attempts when roaming the wider world.

Another impressive thing about the Puffin browser for Android brings to the table is its use of a proprietary compression algorithm for transmitting web data to your device. What this means is you could save a massive amount of bandwidth use for web browsing.
