BERKSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL TO INSTALL ORACLE DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Turning its back on ICL’s Ingres recommendations, Berkshire County Council has opted to install Oracle Corp’s database management system on its Series 39 Level 80 mainframe: key advantages cited by the authority include Oracle’s integrated CASE tool set, SSADM compatibility, and in-built facilities for managing the data bridge to IDMS/X, which is tipped to arrive shortly.
