News that should hasten Data General Corp’s convalescence no end is that Beneficial Corp plans to spend $35m over the next two years installing additional equipment to enhance its loan office processing network: it has bought 220 low-end MV/2000DC systems for the first of the 1,150 branch offices worldwide and additional purchases are expected to bring the Beneficial’s total investment in Data General kit to some $60m by the end of 1989; Beneficial looks for the new Bencom III system to save it $15m annually.
