BENEDETTI TO SETTLE FOR A 25% SHAREHOLDING IN SOCIETE GENERALE DE BELGIQUE

Carlo de Benedetti now says that he will settle for a 25% shareholding in Socie’te’ Ge’ne’rale de Belgique but reckons that will be enough to give him effective control of the giant holding company, which has stakes in some 1,200 other businesses.
