By CBR Staff Writer

Xenix 5.2.2 is up to seven times faster than the 1.0 release of OS/2 on the 16MHz IBM PS/2 Model 80 with 2Mb memory and 70Mb disk, according to benchmarks quoted in ComputerWorld: the benchmarks, which were conducted by Neal Nelson & Associates of Chicago, reportedly embraced 17 types of work and up to 20 concurrent tasks covering both disk- and CPU-intensive operation, word processing, electronic mail, calculation of spreadsheets, database accesses and programming; Xenix was faster in 13, by up to 700%, while OS/2 bested Xenix in three tests, doing 85% better in one.
