BELLSOUTH WITHDRAWS OFFER FOR MOBILE COMMUNICATIONS

BellSouth Corp has withdrawn its offer for Mobile Communications Corp of America after the Jackson, Mississippi company said that it had received several alternative takeovertures at a higher price than the $564m in BellSouth shares.
