BELLSOUTH TO WITHDRAW BID FOR US FEDERAL GOVERNMENT CONTRACT

BellSouth Corp has now offered to withdraw its bid for to install and operate telephone exchanges for the US Federal government in Atlanta and New Orleans and admits it may have been influenced improperly by information passed to the company by a General Services Administration employee (CI No 852): the contract is valued at around $8m.
