BellSouth Cellular Corp is conducting its first trial of an in-building cellular system on its Cellular One network in Richmond, Virginia: the BellSouth Corp subsidiary said the trial began in December in the Richmond plant of Whitehall-Robins, a division of American Home Products Corp; Whitehall-Robins employees are using the in-building cellular system as an extension of the office telephone system during the 90-day trial and 20 employees are using hand-sets that operate both inside and outside the Whitehall Robins complex; hand-sets and communications systems come from Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd’s Panasonic arm; Ericsson Technika is 90% owned by Ericsson with the other 10% held by Hungarian company Muszertechnika.
