BellSouth Corp’s BellSouth Cellular Corp is now ready to go with its Simon personal communications device, which was designed and is made for it by IBM Corp. Simon is claimed to be the first fully integrated handheld cellular phone, wireless facsimile machine, pager, electronic mail station, diary, appointments scheduler, address book, calculator and pen-based note pad and sketch pad. It is $900 including a cellular activation in BellSouth Cellular markets covering 190 US cities in 15 states. Users can cre ate handwritten facsimile messages and memos using the built-in touch screen or by writing directly on the screen with a stylus.
