Bell Atlantic Corp is close to an agreement to buy a minority stake in a Mexican telephone company, Iusacell SA, a unit of family-owned Iusa, for about $1,000m, the Wall Street Journal reported: the paper said that Bell Atlantic would buy as much as 49% of Iusacell; the phone company declined to comment.
