Good news for users of rechargeable batteries – one day: Bell Communications Research Inc says that its researchers have discovered a new economical way to make rechargeable batteries that can out-perform anything available in research laboratories or the high street: they use a unique combination of Lithium-based Oxide and carbon, combined with a new electrolyte composition to create experimental prototypes of a safer, longer-lasting AA-sized rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, which can last about three times longer between charges than today’s batteries, implying 2 Ampere-hours.
