Bell Atlantic Corp will take a net hit against its third quarter figures of $2,300m to cover the cost of getting rid of 5,600 people over the next three years: it says it also plans capital expenditures of $10,000m to $11,000m over the next five years on its broadband network – but that is not significantly different from what it has been investing so there should be no significant increases over what the Baby Bell has spent historically.
