Part of Bell Atlantic Corp’s network crashed for the second time in a week on Monday, this time in the Pittsburgh area, where for most subscribers, from just after 11am, only local telephone service in the immediate vicinity was available for the rest of the working day; the snag is thought to have been in the Signalling System 7 software – but a different one from last week.
