BELL ATLANTIC SET PICH FOR TELE-COMMUNICATIONS AQUISITION

As a come-on to the US Administration and regulators dithering over whether to nod through its proposed acquisition of Tele-Communications Inc, Bell Atlantic Corp says that the two will spend $15,000m over the next five years to build a national information highway – if the bid gets the go-ahead: Bell Atlantic stresses that the figure is 15% to 20% above the existing capital plans it currently has, and the two plan to offer video programming through a subsidiary to be separate from the local telephone company.
