Bell Atlantic Corp has found an additional diversification in the shape of hospital information management systems and in a first step agreed to acquire privately held Simborg Systems Corp of Greenbrae, California for an undisclosed sum in shares. The 40-employee target’s founder, Donald Simborg will become president of a new Bell Atlantic Healthcare Systems. The key Simborg product is Stat Lan, a local area network system designed to enable autonomous clusters to be set up in each hospital department and exchange data over the network.
