BELL ATLANTIC CUTS COSTS

Bell Atlantic Corp expects to cut $300m of expenses this year through productivity improvements. A Merrill Lynch analyst said this should enable the company to increase earnings per share by 9% to 10% for both 1996 and 1997 and increased his earnings estimates by $0.05 to $4.25 for 1996, $0.10 to $4.65 for 1997. After adjustments the Bell’s earnings per share rose 11% in 1995
